School-Parent Compact

Munford Middle School

 School-Parent Compact 2024-2025

Munford Middle School and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA) (participating children), agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high standards. This school-parent compact is in effect during the school year 2024-2025.

School Responsibilities- Munford Middle School will:
*Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the State’s student academic achievement standards as follows:
MMS will provide a high-quality curriculum with effective instruction by adhering to the Alabama Course of Study for course standards. Teachers will use best practices to engage students in differentiated learning opportunities such as Project Based Learning, STEAM investigations, formative assessment, blended learning, and strategic teaching strategies. *Hold parent-teacher conferences as needed and discuss the compact as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. Parent-teacher conferences will be held on an as-needed basis. Parents of any student who earns a failing grade for the semester will be asked to come to the school for a conference with the teacher(s) and/or administrator. Conferences will take place virtually when needed.
*Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.
MMS sends home PowerSchool access information at the beginning of the school year so parents can log in to access their child’s grades, attendance, and discipline records. Progress reports are issued four and a half weeks into each grading period. In addition, report cards are sent home at the end of each 9-week grading period.
*Provide parents with reasonable access to staff.
MMS teachers are available to conference with parents during their planning period and before and after school. Parents are asked to contact the school to schedule an appointment. Contact information is made available on the school website. *Provide parents opportunities to volunteer, participate in their child’s class and observe classroom activities. Volunteer opportunities can be scheduled by contacting Jerrica Roberson at 256-315-5235. Parents are welcome to observe in classrooms on an appointment basis.
*Ensure regular two-way, meaningful communication between family members and school staff and, to the extent practicable, in a language that family members can understand.
MMS regularly sends home letters and automated calls to inform parents of school activities and events. TransAct is used to communicate written notifications to parents in their native language. In addition, the school website, Twitter feed, and MMS Facebook page are used to increase communication and share school-related information with parents.
