Our School

Munford Middle School

The school is a beautiful brick and rock building, that rests at the base of Cheaha Mountain. We have approximately 300 students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Seventy-five percent of our students receive free or reduced lunch. We know how essential it is for students to have a genuine feeling of belonging, and we believe this feeling of belonging is the foundation on which learning is built. For this reason, we plan and work toward a learning environment that is safe and secure and instruction that is designed to help each student develop socially, emotionally and academically.

Munford Middle is a Cognia STEAM certified school. Munford Middle School offers students many opportunities to immerse themselves in STEM learning. The school's commitment to fostering a culture of innovation is evident through Project-Based Learning projects integrated into every class. These hands-on projects enhance students' understanding of core subjects and instill problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Munford Middle School is dedicated to fostering a deep respect for the environment among our students and instilling an understanding of the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy ecosystem. We nurture students' natural curiosity about the great outdoors, inspiring them to explore and appreciate nature. Munford Schools proudly stand as the first in the Southeast to integrate forestry and conservation education themes into our basic curriculum and campus design. This innovative approach is exemplified through our partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and our numerous outdoor classrooms. Through these efforts, we aim to develop students into responsible stewards of our wildlife and natural resources.

In the future, despite many unknowns, we recognize that the majority of careers will involve Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This knowledge is the guiding force in the formation of our STEAM lab.  This lab will help prepare Munford Middle Students for their future through teaching higher order thinking skills in an interactive, hands-on approach and by introducing content through experiences that encourage students to think, act, and communicate within the school and society. As well as providing meaningful simulations and projects promoting teamwork, leadership, workplace skills and real-world application.
